Have you ever heard of Dexamethasone? Well, it’s an anti-inflammatory drug that usually helps farm animals with stress, allergic reactions, and shock.
Dexamethasone is also approved for use in humans and it’s been helping with severe COVID cases. This is the first drug that’s helped patients survive the virus. Experts say that daily doses of the drug could help prevent one in eight patents that are on ventilators from dying. Also, it could save one out of every 25 people who need to be on oxygen.
The research found that the steroid didn’t seem to help with the more mild cases of COVID. This may not be a cure, but it’s a step in the right direction.
