(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin football team fell to Minnesota, 24-7, Friday at Camp Randall Stadium to close the 2024 season.
Minnesota struck first during Friday’s matchup following a long drive that culminated in a one-yard rushing touchdown. The Gophers extended the lead on their ensuing possession thanks to a seven-yard touchdown catch. They took the 14-0 mark into the halftime interval.
Minnesota remained strong out of the break, tacking on a third score for a 21-0 advantage.
Bucky answered quickly, going 11 plays and 65 yards for a touchdown. Braedyn Locke completed 6-of-8 passes on the drive, including a 15-yard strike to Vinny Anthony II in the corner of the endzone.
The score sparked momentum going into the fourth quarter, but UW’s comeback bid ultimately fell short.
Senior Hunter Wohler led the UW defense with 7 tackles, including 6 solo stops, in his final game at Camp Randall. Defensive lineman Ben Barten was all over the ball, swatting three passes down from the line of scrimmage.
Twenty-three players were honored in front of a sold out Camp Randall crowd. It was the sixth sellout this season, the most in a single campaign since 2008.
Friday’s temperature at kickoff was 22 degrees, the coldest game for a home contest since 1964 when Wisconsin squared off with Minnesota on Nov. 21. Bucky earned a 14-7 win over the Gophers that year with a kickoff temperature of 11 degrees.
