GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A state representative from Green Bay has announced his reelection bid.
State Rep. Amaad Rivera-Wagner says he will officially kick off his campaign May 6 at Backstage at the Meyer Theatre.
During his first term, Rivera-Wagner helped pass two bills into law, including a workforce housing measure expanding access to homeownership and a law allowing DACA recipients to obtain professional licenses in Wisconsin.
He also helped secure state support for public safety costs tied to the NFL Draft, continued efforts to relocate long-standing coal piles along the Fox River, and pushed back against federal cuts threatening the Green Bay Conservation Corps.
Looking ahead, Rivera-Wagner said his focus will be on expanding housing access, raising the minimum wage, holding health insurance companies accountable for denial rates, fully funding public schools to reduce property taxes, protecting democracy by ending partisan gerrymandering, and legalizing cannabis.
Rivera-Wagner was the former Chief of Staff for Mayor Eric Genrich. He was first elected in 2024 and serves on the Assembly Committees on Local Government and Consumer Protection.
