SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Shiocton School Board will hold a public hearing Monday on a proposed request to the state to waive the required number of instructional minutes due to school days lost in the recent flooding.
The state has minimum requirements for instructional minutes for various academic levels. The minutes requirement replaced school days several years ago.
Shiocton schools were canceled for eight days during the recent flooding.
Before the district can submit a request to the Dept. of Public Instruction, it must hold a public hearing. That’s now scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Monday.
“The District Administrator will present the rationale for the waiver due to the mandatory village evacuation and catastrophic flooding occurring April 15 – April 24, 2026,” the agenda states.
The meeting will be held in Library Media Center.
