(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – Marquette University short-stick defensive midfielder Peter Detwiler was named a 2026 USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, the publication announced Thursday. It marks the second consecutive year Detwiler has earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors.
Detwiler, a team captain, led Marquette’s defensive midfielders with 29 ground balls and a career-high nine caused turnovers this season while also earning All-BIG EAST Second Team honors.
The Devon, Pennsylvania, native recorded two or more ground balls in 10 contests as the Golden Eagles’ top short-stick defensive midfielder. He posted a three-ground-ball, three-caused-turnover performance at Cleveland State in late February and closed his career with a four-ground-ball outing at Denver on April 24. He finished the season with two goals, one assist, 29 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Detwiler is just the second Marquette short-stick defensive midfielder to earn All-America honors and the first since head coach Jake Richard earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Third Team honors in 2016.
Detwiler follows current Marquette assistant coach Mason Woodward, who earned USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America recognition in each of the past two seasons as the program’s top close defenseman.
USA Lacrosse All-Americans are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff with input from coaches and conferences across the country.
