APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A center aimed at helping families with young children is coming to downtown Appleton.
First 5 Fox Valley has begun renovations of the building at 111 W. College Ave., according to the contractor, Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction. The building, next to Houdini Plaza, most recently housed the Trout Museum of Art. The museum moved to a new location near the Lawrence University campus last year.
Plans for the Family Resource Center call for a free public play space on the first and second floors, a childcare center on the third floor, rentable office space on the fourth floor and multipurpose rooms for parent education on the fifth floor.
“The Family Resource Center will play a critical role in serving children, parents, and families year-round and will have a lasting, positive impact on the community for generations to come,” First 5 Fox Valley director Barb Tengesdal said in a news release.
The renovation is expected to be finished in the fall.
