(WLUK) — Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested Tuesday morning following a disturbance over the weekend, according to multiple reports.
The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport both posted screenshots of an alleged news release from the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department regarding Jacobs’ arrest. It is unclear where they obtained the release, as it does not show up on the agency’s official Facebook page.
Jacobs, 28, is currently listed on the Brown County Jail’s inmate roster.
The release posted by Schneidman and Rapoport states Hobart-Lawrence police officers were dispatched to a complaint involving Jacobs around 8:30 a.m. Saturday. As a result of an investigation into the incident, Jacobs was taken into custody Tuesday and booked into the jail.
Per the release, Jacobs is facing five recommended charges:
- Battery – domestic abuse
- Criminal damage to property – domestic abuse
- Disorderly conduct – domestic abuse
- Strangulation and suffocation
- Intimidation of a victim
Rapoport posted a statement from Jacobs via his attorneys, which reads:
Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.
Tom Pelissero, another NFL Network insider, reported these statements:
From a Packers spokesperson: “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.
From the NFL on Josh Jacobs: “We are aware of the report and have been in contact with the club.
Jacobs signed with the Packers as an unrestricted free agent two years ago, agreeing to a four-year, $48 million contract after spending his first five NFL seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, who selected him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
