MENOMINEE, Mich. (WTAQ-WLUK) – A marijuana dispensary that had been denied a court order it sought to open a store has asked the judge to reconsider her ruling, court records show.
Puff Cannabis contended it should have been allowed to open last year, but Menominee did not issue a license as it should have. The city said it followed the proper procedures.
In April, Judge Mary Barglind denied Puff’s motion, saying because the application Puff submitted to the city included language waiving its right to “legal redress, or recourse,” the company’s suit can’t move forward
Court records show Puff filed a motion for reconsideration earlier this month. No hearings are currently scheduled, court records show.
In November, 78% of Menominee residents voted to cap the number of marijuana dispensaries in the city at nine. Eight are currently opened. Other firms besides Puff are also seeking a license. Michigan municipalities share in the tax revenue generated by such stores. In 2025, the city and county of Menominee each received $432,000.
