ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — No ticket is required for this destination at Green Bay’s airport.
Visitors at Austin Straubel International Airport can get an up-close look at an official INDYCAR race car near the terminal’s main entrance.
It’s in celebration of a milestone five-year partnership between the airport and Road America ahead of the upcoming XPEL INDYCAR Grand Prix presented by AMR in Elkhart Lake.
Because the race car is parked before airport security checkpoints, the display is accessible to the general public. Local residents, racing purists, and traveling families are encouraged to visit the terminal, admire the vehicle, and capture a selfie alongside a piece of elite racing history.
“We are absolutely thrilled to host the Road America INDYCAR here at GRB, and the response from the public has been incredible,” said GRB Airport Director Marty Piette. “Every single day, we watch passengers completely stop in their tracks to admire the sleek lines and intense engineering of this machine. It brings a wonderful, high-energy atmosphere into our terminal and serves as a perfect visual reminder of the world-class sporting events available right here in our region.”
The vehicle will remain on-site through June 21.
Visitors planning to view the car can utilize the airport’s short-term parking structures for quick access to the main terminal entrance.
