(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College senior Ezra Schermacher has been named to the second team of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) NCAA Division III Men’s Track and Field Academic All-American Team, announced today (July 14) by CSC.
Schermacher, a Plymouth native and graduate, earned a 3.94 grade point average in biology.
It is Schermacher’s second consecutive second team Academic All-American honor. The senior placed ninth in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship after clearing a height of 16 feet 6 inches to earn second team All-American status. He also qualified for the high jump at the event.
At the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship, he placed 16th in the pole vault to earn second team All-American status once again.
During the season, he was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference’s Athlete of the Week on five occasions. He was also named to the conference’s Academic-Scholars list and was also a CSC Academic All-District Team recipient.
Schermacher is one of five student-athletes in program history to be named an Academic All-American, with that group acquiring eight honors.
Overall, since the inception of the CSC Academic All-America program in 1952, 60 St. Norbert College student-athletes have been selected for 83 awards.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his or her current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
