TOWN OF WASHINGTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One man is in recovery after a water rescue at Schoolhouse Beach over the weekend.
Washington Island police were notified of a possible drowning at the beach at approximately 3:44 p.m. on July 25.
An initial investigation indicates a 36-year-old man went underwater for about two to three minutes.
Good Samaritans conducted lifesaving measures until emergency personnel arrived on scene.
The man was transported to the Washington Island Airport, where he was later flown to a Green Bay hospital.
As of Monday evening, the victim was reported to be alert.
The Washington Island Police Department thanked the Good Samaritans for their help with the situation.
Emergency personnel from the Washington Island Fire Department, Washington Island Emergency Medical Responders, Door County Emergency Services, Ephraim Fire Department, Eagle 3, and the Washington Island Police Department all responded to the scene.
