(WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS) – Eric Bitonti can add a Midwest League Player of the Week award to his trophy case. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers infielder won this week’s award after an incredible week against the South Bend Cubs in the final six games of the season at Neuroscience Group Field.
Bitonti, MLB Pipeline’s #26 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers system, set the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers single season home run record with his 24th dinger of 2026 on August 27. That wasn’t what won him the award. Bitonti was 9-for-23 with all seven of his hits going for extra bases to compile an OPS of 1.438.
Additionally, Bitonti scored eight runs and drove in twelve runs to help the Rattlers to a split in the six-game series with the playoff-bound Cubs. Bitonti’s final hit of the series was a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning that gave Wisconsin a 9-8 lead on Sunday afternoon.
He is the sixth Rattler to win a weekly award. Braylon Payne, Andrew Fischer, Josiah Ragsdale, and Daniel Dickinson have also been named Midwest League Player of the Week this season. Wande Torres won the League’s Pitcher of the Week.
The Timber Rattlers will play their final series of the season at Beloit this week. Game one of the six-game set is Tuesday at 6:05pm.
