(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College struck first but was ultimately held to a 1-1 draw with Lawrence University in a non-conference match at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (2-1-1) struck early with an Everett Saeger (pictured) goal at 4:51, his first of the season. Hayden Dunn recorded the assist. The lead was short lived, as the Vikings equalized through Daito Sho at 24:13.
St. Norbert forced three saves from Lawrence’s Christian Puebla but couldn’t find a second goal. The Vikings ended the game with 10 men, after Alan McIntosh picked up his second yellow of the match at 81:08.
The Green Knights outshot the Vikings 14-7. Jackson Kiszka made two saves.
Non-conference play will officially conclude on Sunday, as St. Norbert makes a road trip to Carroll University at noon.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Lake Forest 2, St. Norbert 0
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – St. Norbert College was downed 2-0 by Lake Forest College in a non-conference match at Farwell Field.
The Green Knights (1-4-1) had their fair share of chances in the first half, with two early shots from Shelby Busch and Addie Schneider forcing saves from Sara Swenson. Madi Hacker (pictured) contributed two shots on goal in the first half, both of which were saved.
After a deadlocked first half, the Foresters broke through at 49:04 from Sophia Key and doubled the lead at 59:56 with a Annabelle Schroeder goal. Lexi Fredenhagen and Aleah Reesman had two shots that were saved late in the half.
The Green Knights were outshot 28-8. Leah Hess made 10 saves for the Green Knights. Swenson had four saves, while Maddie Geasey had two for the Foresters.
VOLLEYBALL
Westminster College 3, St. Norbert 0
DE PERE – St. Norbert College wrapped up its own Chick-fil-A Invitational with a 3-0 loss to Westminster (Mo.) College at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.
The Green Knights fell to the Bluejays 25-22, 25-16, 25-17.
St. Norbert trailed 19-18 and got to within ties of 20-20 and 21-21 in the opening set, but Westminster went on a 4-1 run to close out the set. The Green Knights never led in either of the final two sets.
St. Norbert hit .078 for the match, with 30 kills against 21 errors in 115 attempts. Alli Clark had six kills, while Frances McGann added five and Annaliesse Schmall had four. Flynn Puttin had 11 assists. Maddie Kitowski and Keira Ashenfelter had two service aces each.
Kitowski led the defense with eight digs, while Raina Ledzian had five. Clark and Kayden Lamon had three blocks apiece.
