(UW ATHLETICS) SEATTLE – The No. 19 Wisconsin men’s soccer team (5-2-3, 0-2-3 B1G) battled to a 0-0 draw against No. 15 Washington (6-3-2, 3-1-1 B1G) in Seattle. Wisconsin played up a man for the majority of the match on the way to the tie. Judewellin Michel made five saves to keep the Huskies off the scoreboard.
How it Happened:
Both teams were finding their footing to start the match, with Wisconsin’s Matthew Zachemski taking the game’s first shot on goal in the 17th minute. Judewellin Michel made a diving save in the 25th minute to keep the contest scoreless.
After a VAR review in the 31st minute, Washington’s goalkeeper Stockton Short was given a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity to Markie Hrvojevic. Sophomore Kenny Pierpoint came into goal for just the second time this season for the Huskies.
With the man advantage, the Badgers were able to maintain possession to begin the second half. Zachemski came within inches of the night’s first goal when his shot in the 59th minute ricocheted off the left post and out of play.
Washington continued to attack down a man, but Michel made multiple saves, including one in the final seconds of the match, to secure a point for Wisconsin.
Key Notes:
