(BIG EAST) – Marquette’s Carson Tyler has been name the Big East offensive volleyball player of the week.
Tyler led the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 week highlighted by a five-set victory over Creighton to end the Bluejays’ 50-game conference winning streak. The junior led the league with 5.10 kills and 6.15 points per set while tacking on 23 digs, eight aces, four blocks, and three assists.
In a five-set setback to DePaul, the junior registered a career-high 30 kills on .357 hitting with six digs, four blocks, and an ace. Against Creighton, Tyler logged a double-double of 21 kills and 17 digs while serving a career-high seven aces.
Teammate Luanna Markus, a freshman setter for the Golden Eagles, was named to the Big East honor roll.
Markus led the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 week including a five-set loss to DePaul before a 3-2 victory over Creighton. She totaled 90 assists with 21 digs, seven blocks, and four kills. She posted a 43-assist, 13-dig double-double in the win over Creighton.
