AMSTERDAM, Oct 14 (Reuters) – The chief financial officer of top computer chip equipment manufacturer ASML said on Wednesday the company opposes a proposal by US Congress to limit the company’s sales of DUV lithography equipment to China as a bad idea.
On a call with reporters after the company’s third-quarter earnings, CFO Roger Dassen said that if the Match Act is passed after US midterm elections, it would accelerate China’s domestic development of rival technology.
He added he was “optimistic that common sense will prevail”.
