Wisconsin Beef Council staff joined nearly 70 representatives from 32 state beef councils for the annual Partnerships in Action (PIA) conference, Oct. 12-14, in Denver, Colorado. The conference focused on how state and national Beef Checkoff programs can work together to strengthen beef demand and maximize the impact of producer investments.
Coordinated by the Federation of State Beef Councils and funded by the Beef Checkoff, PIA brings state beef councils together to share strategies, explore consumer trends and identify opportunities to put national programs to work at the state level.
Topics discussed during PIA highlighted how the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, a contractor to the Beef Checkoff and home of the Federation of State Beef Councils, and state beef councils work together to drive demand for beef through the cornerstones of taste, trust, well-being and ease. Attendees learned about program strategy, current consumer trends and preferences, and Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. promotions.
Representing the Wisconsin Beef Council were Executive Director Tammy Vaassen, Director of Marketing Angie Horkan, and Industry Relations Manager Beth McIlquham.
“When states get together to share strategies for strengthening beef demand, everyone wins,” Vaassen said. “I always bring home new ideas we can implement in Wisconsin.”
The Wisconsin Beef Council is part of the Federation of State Beef Councils and voluntarily invests in the Federation to enhance the national Checkoff and leverage producer dollars through a coordinated partnership.
