(WTAQ-WLUK) — Three people are in custody at the Door County Jail in what investigators describe a decade long, large-scale theft and money laundering operation involving fuel delivery.
On Friday, Thomas Kaczmarek, Jean Kaczmarek and Justin Kaczmarek appeared in Door County court Friday and were issued bonds in the following amounts:
- Thomas: $25,000 cash
- Jean: $5,000 cash
- Justin $10,000 cash
During the investigation, 14 victims were identified with the estimated combined loss of approximately $1.8 million.
Investigators applied for four search warrants and three seizure warrants.
On Thursday, those warrants were executed in the town of Nasewaupee in Door County and the town of Pembine in Marinette County.
At this time, formal charges have not been filed. The Door County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who paid Thomas, Jean or Justin Kaczmarek directly with cash or check for fuel delivery to contact Investigator Jon Gilson at (920) 746-2555.
The investigation remains ongoing.
