APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A second person involved in an April 9 crash has died from their injuries, just one week after their wife died from her injuries suffered in the same crash.
67-year-old Alan Hopfensperger died from his injuries suffered in the crash on May 2, according to his obituary and the GoFundMe page that was created by their family.
According to the Appleton Police Department, a two-vehicle crash was reported just before 7 a.m. on April 9 on Wisconsin Avenue at Meade Street.
One vehicle flipped in the crash and landed on its roof. Both Alan Hopfensperger. and his wife Margaret Hopfensperger, were in the vehicle that was struck.

On April 30, the Appleton Police Department says the 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle is also still hospitalized and had not been charged.
“He was not confined in jail due to his extensive injuries sustained in the crash and the specialized ongoing medical care needed,” police said.
Following the news of Margaret’s death, Appleton police said the 17-year-old could face homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle charges.
“The investigation indicated that a 17-year-old male from Appleton was driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failed to stop at a red traffic signal, causing the collision,” a news release from APD stated.
A funeral mass for both Margaret and Alan Hopfensperger is scheduled for 11 a.m. on May 7, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton.
