(UW ATHLETICS) – Hilary Blomberg, Hannah Conger, Kendra Lewis, and Danielle Lucey of the Wisconsin softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams, announced by the CSC.
Junior Hilary Blomberg paced the Badger offense once again, leading the team with a .357 batting average while accumulating a team-high .708 slugging percentage and .443 on-base percentage. This season, Blomberg broke the program single-season record for most home runs with 16. Blomberg surpasses Badger great, Kayla Konwent (15), a record set in 2019. The psychology major tallied a 3.692 spring semester GPA and maintains a 3.731 cumulative GPA.
Shortstop Hannah Conger had her best season yet with the Badgers. The sophomore started every game a shortstop, while hitting .312 with 43 hits, six doubles, four home runs, and 25 RBI. Conger helped the Badgers to three walk-off wins alone, helping Wisconsin to wins over St. Thomas, No. 2 seeded Oregon in the Big Ten Tournament, and the Badgers win over Baylor in the NCAA Tournament. The finance major holds a 3.920 cumulative GPA.
Sophomore Kendra Lewis had another solid season with the Badgers as she hit was third on the team with a .333 batting average with 52 hits, eight doubles, seven home runs and 35 RBI as a stat line. Lewis also totaled a .519 slugging percentage and .432 on-base percentage. The Illinois native also chipped in with five wins in the circle in 58.2 innings pitched. Lewis finished the spring semester with a 3.933 GPA and maintains a 3.703 cumulative GPA.
Rounding out the list of honorees is centerfielder Danielle Lucey. Lucey captained the outfield in all 54 games and totaled hit career bests in hits (42), doubles (7), triples (3) and RBI (25) this season with Wisconsin. The Health and Promotions & Health Equity major totaled a 3.900 GPA this spring while holding a cumulative of 3.598 GPA.
The College Sports Communicators recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and complete in 90 percent of the institution’s games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution’s games.
